What we’re about

18 taps of Craft Beer

We have 18 taps of quality, award-winning craft beer as well as a selection of wines and spirits. The freshly brewed beer and cider is made just down the road in Richmond.

About the Tavern

A Brightwater community hub, the Tavern is a place where you can stop in for a coffee with the kids during the day, relax with a beer after work, grab a meal or hold a committee meeting.

The atmosphere

The living room-like entrance has a wood fire and armchairs. There's a lively space down the back with a dart board and a covered outdoor area, perfect for a beer in the afternoon sun.

Take home a rigger

Rigger sales are available from opening 'til last orders. If you can’t stay and enjoy our hospitality, pick up a pizza to accompany your beverage of choice to enjoy at home or take to your party.

Food and bar snacks available

Order from our menu, or the Takeaway next door

A cheese platter, an antipasto platter, and nachos are available all day every day. During the winter months we do something hot and hearty like Hungarian goulash. Pizzas are available to eat in or takeaway - our best sellers are Chicken with sour cream and the S&F Supreme. There's a takeaway next door offering a range of easy meals that you can enjoy with a quiet pint, or get a group of mates to join you for a feed and a good catch up. See the menu

A selection of Nelson's finest wines

A range of local wine, spirits and soft drinks.

With one exception, all our wines are sourced from vineyards within a 2km radius of the Tavern. You can also enjoy a choice of the major spirit brands and a selection of juices and soft drink options. Try the Sprig and Fern's Ginger Beer for a delicious, refreshing non-alcoholic option.

Sponsorship and community

Community & good causes

The Tavern is part of a small community and we like to do our bit. We get right in behind the annual Brightwater Wine & Food Festival, and we estimate that our Thursday quiz nights have generated in excess of $50,000 for local good causes in the last 5 years.

Feedback and Reviews

Great little bar in a very relaxed setting. Local beer, wine and ciders. The best ever pizzas are made here as well and good fish 'n' chips from next door, which you can have delivered here.

The manager was friendly and chatty and my hubby had a great time talking about all the beers. We tasted a few of the different products such as the alcoholic lemonade and the berry cider - YUM. Nachos were great and a very large generous portion. Has an outside area out the back and a nice relaxed atmosphere.
